The
Hive is the brain child of Rykarda
Parasol - local songwriter and painter. The salon is sometimes
referred to as "Small Factory" as it is often compared
to Warhol's Factory in spirit and purpose - but with fewer
casualties so far. Those in the loop can look forward to
movie nights, collective art projects, and shows in both visual
art and music. The space itself does not just host art but hopes
to be a moving working piece of art in and of itself.
It's
not a gallery. Our honeycomb hideout is a privately owned
art salon dedicated to connecting artists, musicians, craftsmen,
and writers. It's main purpose is to art and imagination. Salon
visits are by appointment or open house only.
The
salon is located in historic Russian Hill/Nob Hill/Tender Nob
-- near elegant restaurants such as “1550 Hyde” and
just two blocks from upper Polk Street. Honestly, we don't even
know what neighborhood we're in. They tell me a couple of Beat
writers used to live a few blocks away and some still do.
Visual
Fine Arts
We
work with varying mediums at our space, but mostly we display
visual fine art painting and we lean towards traditional elements.
We also host music and literary events privately - y'know, whatever
comes up or floats our boat. If we can bare it, we host parties
for the public at large. Since we make no profit this is not always
feasible.

What’s the Buzz? The bad buzz: The honeybees are disappearing
and we don’t know why. The good buzz: We’ve found
out where the city’s painters, poets, musicians, and artistically
inclined are congregating.
After
watching an Andy Warhol doc, Rykarda Parasol got a bee in her
bonnet and created a community space for fellow artistes, and
thus The Hive, a private salon in Russian Hill, was hatched.
Enlisting
a few drones, the chanteuse transformed the former noodle factory
into a honey pot of a parlor. There’s plenty of blank wall
space in the back and room up front for readings, music sets,
and sleep over parties. The vibe: homespun and come-as-you-are.
Right
now, the gallery is invitation only with no regular hours, but
stay tuned for art potluck nights, movie screenings, and galas.
There’s
no address listed. Just look for a gray building on the corner
of Hyde and Pacific.
And if you don’t like it, buzz off.

Sorry
No. We do not accept unsolicited inquires or materials
as we do not book bands here. It's a private establishment. It's
an art salon, not a rock club.
