~ Frequently Asked Questions ~
1)
Q: Can I book my band here?
A: Nope. It's a private establishment. I mean,
would you ask a complete stranger if they can host your birthday
party in their living room? The events we do have are put on by
those associated intimately with the Hive and we put them on ourselves.
It's a lot of work. But know what? We love going to clubs and
catching great new bands so I know we'll see you play soon.
2)
Q: Where is the Hive?
A: Sorry I can't give the exact address. Again,
it's a private space and not commercial. Likely if you know someone
connected with space you'll be able to find it.
3)
Q: Are you accepting unsolicited art submissions?
A: Not at this time. If you know someone who
knows someone here at the Hive they should recommend you if they
think we're a good match. Sort of like if you set a friend up
on a blind date, right? I mean, you’d hope your buddy would
give it some thought and not set you up with the wrong sort, yes?
As were trying to create a network of artists as friends we hope
that we’ll connect emotionally and not just artistically.
If they know us, they know our taste.
4)
Q: Is the Hive associated with any non-profit or charity?
A: Not yet. We’re most interested in working
with non-profits close to our Hyde Street neighborhood. We’re
non-political, non-religious, please keep this in mind. We're
not sure what we can offer, but we're open to connecting and exploring
ideas.
5)
Q: Is the space available for rent?
A: Yes. For a sum you can rent the space and
host your own event. Serious inquiries only please. BUT please
direct them to: info [at] hivesf [dot] com
6)
Q: Why don't you have a mailing list?
A: Hmmm. Well, for starters we do have a list
of friends and acquaintances that we keep informed of our events.
So if we know you you’re on that list. Maybe we should know
you, but don’t. I hope we’re introduced in the near
future if that’s the case! But sadly, we are wary of complete
strangers, as this is a private space. Personally I’d
feel odd going to someone’s abode uninvited where I know
no one, wouldn’t you? So please understand our reserved
attiditude to proceed with caution on this matter.
The
other reason is to keep true to the reason we have this place
in the first place and why we don’t just go to bars and
clubs (not that we don’t). Mainly we want our friends to
take a moment and really socially connect amidst art. We’re
not always afforded that opportunity elsewhere. It’s a space
for us to get to know us in a homier environment. Yet if you really
REALLY need to know what’s up at the Hive, we encourage
you to bookmark our sight. We do have some events
open to the public and we’d love to see you at those. Perhaps
they will give us an opportunity then to know you.
